2022, (The Icon) Oil on canvas
The Ikone is a period piece. My goal was to emulate the popular church paintings which were popular in the latter 19th and early 20th centuries. This particular church was a popular subject in this period. It in essence became an icon. There is also of course an actual icon located within the painting.
